MACHINERY OF MAGIC is a science fiction novel by Noah Kuntz. It melds a coming-of-age story reminiscent of The Magicians (Lev Grossman) with high concept world building in the vein of Westworld. Hardcover, paperback, and eBook available now! Read on to find out more about the world and characters.

Loreia - The World

Once a luxury adventure park, Loriea is a world where magic has been made real.  The people who populate Loreia, the Guests, live in blissful ignorance of the true nature of magic. This wonderous fantasy world is the only reality they’ve ever known. Long ago a disaster cut off Loreia from the rest of galactic civilization. To handle their isolation the ancestors of the Mechanics and the Guests made a pact: the Mechanics would maintain the world in secrecy, and the Guests would raise their descendants to accept this fantasy as reality.

Locke - The Mechanic

Locke is smart, eager and a bit reckless. He’s nineteen and has just begun training to be a Mechanic, one of the technicians who maintain the technology behind Loreia. As he learns to maintain the machinery behind the magic of Loreia, he finds himself caught up in the conflicts of Loreian people. His loyalties are put to the test as he is forced to question the rules he was raised to live by.

Jane - The Magician

Jane is a skilled mage, but that’s nothing special on Loreia, where learning magic is a rite of passage. At nineteen, she's just trying to figure out what she wants to do with her life. As Jane searches for her purpose, a growing shadow looms over her. On Loreia, everyone is born into a faction: The Falconi or the Scorpori. The two groups have had a rivalry for decades. These days that rivalry is transforming into a violent feud that is consuming Jane and Loreia.
